The Engineering Home Office, now termed Science and Engineering Resource Center (SREC) of WR-ALC/TIE, is the single entity that cuts across WR-ALC support directorates to address center-wide engineering issues.  As a centralized organization, the SREC manages core-engineering requirements such as recruitment, retention, training, coordination with non-WR-ALC scientific and engineering communities, applied development funding, engineering processes, standards, and policy development.  The SERC also acts as engineering advocate for the center.

UDRI supports the SERC by providing a variety of management, engineering, and office support functions.  Much of our management and engineering support focuses on the analysis, design, and development of business applications.  For example, we are currently developing a training course catalog (database) that summarizes in one easy-to-access tool all training opportunities that are available to enhance professional skills of WR-ALC engineers. UDRI is also developing a database of coursework for interviewing skills training, a database to track suspense items, a video for employee recruitment, and materials for new employee orientation.  Other duties include developing and updating web sites, porting files and video into alternate formats, and other software development activities as required.  Office support includes office organization and management.  UDRI provides daily office administration including calendar and meeting setup and control, phone and e-mail correspondence, document and database development and editing via Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).  UDRI arranges and administers special functions, researches issues of interest to SERC professionals, and supports the Senior Engineer Council and Chief Engineer by recording, disseminating, and tracking meeting minutes and action items.
